Sexual violence against women and children is on the rise in the war affected areas.The Chairperson of the Valikamam West Pradeshiya Sabha, Inkaran Nagaranjini, has recently addressed a  letter to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Child Development, stating that investigations should be conducted into these crimes promptly and steps should be taken to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future.
